Leonor de la Vega square

The birth of Leonor Lasso de la Vega is unknown but it is known he died (1432).it's Great great grandmother of Garcilaso de la Vega. She is buried in the church of the Assumption, his remains were collected from the church of “Consolacion” when was demolished in 1936. There they were kept in a casket with a label reading "contains the remains of Dña.Leonor de la Vega, Don Gonzalo Ruiz de la Vega and Francisco de la Vega".

Nothing found on any professional activity or hobby to have, but I think the mayor who appointed her street at that time was by Leonor had great power.

He was the only child of Garcilaso de la Vega Ruiz and his parents Mencia Cisneros which both had a lot of power and as sole heir was a very important woman of her time. Since his family was one of the oldest in Torrelavega.
He had a square tower at the plaza “Baldomero Iglesias” from which emerged the modern city.
He was benefactor of the monastery of St. Clara of Castrojeriz which was founded by his two grandfathers.

He married 2 times with Juan Téllez de Castilla, who was second Lord of Aguilar and second field Mr. Castañeda. From this marriage became a widow after he died in the Battle of Aljubarroca. Also with Diego Hurtado de Mendoza in 1387. These two husbands possessed many lands and benefits so Leonor became one of the most powerful women in Cantabria becoming the center of the manor and Torrelavega in the administrative area of primogeniture.
